This is so simple, I wonder why I hadn’t thought of it before! I’ve been writing my slides for TechEd NZ (Dugie has a list of some of the sessions on offer). One of my slides is about the Order of Deployment:
Install server roles in this order:
Client Access server role
Hub Transport server role
Mailbox server role
Unified Messaging server role
Just follow the alphabet: C, H, M, U
You know that the Edge Transport server role can be introduced at any time but the mailbox isapi filters get in a muddle if you install the mailbox server role before the CAS role.
Simple really. So now I’ve told you, I might as well delete that slide and put more stuff on switches in instead…
