Swimming to France

There’s some very hardy souls who work for Microsoft in the UK and they’ve decided to swim to France for the weekend.  They’ll be swimming from Dover to a place west of Calais called Audinghen.  The Channel is 22 miles at it’s narrowest part, and this part of the water is the busiest shipping lane in the world.  Map here if you’re not sure where Dover and Calais is

So what’s this got to do with technology?

You’ll be able to track their progress using GPS and see where they are using Virtual Earth and it’s all for charity.

They’re raising money for the Air Ambulance – a vital service considering the amount of times it’s called out to accidents on the M4 motorway close to the office.
