This one had me puzzled for a while. Scott wanted to send IM to a group from the Exchange Global Address List, similar to the old types of Broadcast that everyone used to use 10 years ago (Netware 3.12 perhaps?). I had to look this one up and found a couple of examples to download too. This example will send messages to any members of an AD group that are actually online. It works for nested groups too, and can be used by developers to extend functionality and show presence information in applications. (API information here…)
In order to build the Group Alerting sample you must have installed the RTC API V1.3 SDK on the machine where you intend to build the sample. In order to deploy the sample you must have installed the RTC API V1.3 on any machine where the code will execute. However, the default setup project for the Group Alerting sample includes the MSI merge Module that will install the RTC API V1.3 on any machine where the installation is run.
Since the RTC API V1.3 is an upgrade to the RTC API V1.2, you must install V1.3 to run side-by-side with the previous version. You can download the SDK from here:
You must also have Microsoft Office Communicator installed on the machine where the sample will be built and on any machine where the sample will execute.
