Finding your role model and being authentic

It’s always really inspiring to be involved with women’s networking groups and my event yesterday proved that, once again, when women get together, the energy, creativity and passion that comes out of these meetings.
Our 2nd event was held at Cisco’s offices. Each company in the project team takes a turn at hosting the event, IBM held our first event in March this year, Cisco the 2nd, and we’ll be hosting the 3rd event at Microsoft on March 5th 2009
I’m amazed at the energy and the free flow of information between these groups of women doing similar roles in their respective companies and it’s also interesting to see just how similar we are in terms of our benefits and working patterns. All of us have mechanisms to feedback on company performance, workforce happiness, 360 degree manager feedback. All of us have flexible working policies in place and opportunities for growth. What is really interesting is how freely we share the information with each other, sharing best practices and ideas.
Now what we need to do is hook up women with mentors and mentees from other companies – so what do you suggest? A facebook group? A LinkedIn group? What would work best do you think.
How can we best achieve this?
